what my heart finds

it saddens me to see that i have not posted a list of things i am into since week 1. i don't think i have really been diving into things the way i always use to. maybe it's the season. spring is always a weird time to me. it's not quite hot enough to really enjoy being outside and the weather seems to be as fickle as rain. you can nearly taste summer but the freedom is still behind the bars of school, work, and a lease. spring is always seems to be a time of transition as well. although i have things that are in the here and now, i can't help but wander into the future and the next as this is the last spring i will spend in school.

yes, spring seems to be the most fickle of seasons.

our new assignment of examining why we do what we do is a perfect match for my wandering mind. looking forward into what is next for my life has really made me evaluate what is is that i find joy in, where it is that i find myself, where my heart is and where it desires to be free, all leading me to answer the question what does my heart love most about creating and making.

for me, the Lord is the ultimate Creator and designer. i take great joy in observing what he has made for us and love to dwell in it's beauty. everything that i recreate is merely a thank you for what he has done for us.

simply, i guess my answer is because i enjoy preserving and enhancing the joy of moments in which we live.

so, here is my list. 10 things that i am committed to adoring and revealing for the world to see.

1. capturing natures fleeting moments- calling attention to secretly beautiful things in this world.
2. finding joy in simplicity.
3. finding joy in function.
4. giving others a visual voice by bringing the beauty of their heart to the worlds attention.
5. because i love color, rich color that makes your eyes passionate.
6. i love learning and researching. writing has never really been my thing, so expressing my thoughts and findings through line and color means that i can see a connection between my hand and my mind.
7. i have been given the gift of having functioning hands. and i choose to use them to their full ability to build and draw and touch and feel. i like making the connection between my mind and my hands.
8. i truly believe that a piece of art can transport a persons mind, whisking them into another state of being. a piece of art can change your mood.
9. life is an adventure that is sometimes too beautiful for words to capture.
10. art opens a door for conversation that can be challenging, joyful, complex, and deep all at the same enriching time.

here's to now.
