this is a collage of some of my images and some found images. i tried to make it kind of look like a bulletin board collaged with lovely things.

what a silly mash-up. baby.

things i'm into...

well i am super excited about our assignment to create collages for the next week and i have decided that i am going to used my list of things i am into this week to inspire a different daily collage. each day i will investigate a word or object i am into and create a mash-up of my interpretations and relationship with the word. be prepared for some interesting juxtapositions...

things i'm into...

1. the song "dream weaver" by gary wright. so inspiring, i am totally loving it right now.

2. ice. iceburgs, iced out grills, iced out rappers, ice cubes, ice cube, diamonds, and vanilla ice. ice is aiiiight with me.

3. clocks, i like the sound they make.

4. hexagons; i am really into tessellating the shape and the places that you see it occurring in nature.

5. ruffles. i am normally not into super feminine patterns or silhouettes, but i pretty much always make exceptions for ruffles and bows. they are kind of my things.

6. jack rabbits. they have great personality.

7. hijiri shepherd. hijiri is a really cool print maker that has been creating simple stationary using witty and blunt words combined with a bold font to really make a statement. i like how simple her designs are.

8. playgrounds. recently, my friends and i took a trip to the park to play on play structures and enjoy the nice weather. playgrounds are so much different when you feel like you are never too old for them- in a way it was kind of freeing. i didn't feel like i had any sort of agenda, i just got to play. and i liked it.

9. scaffolding. random, i know, but i think it is an interesting pattern that is added to a building for a short (or long) period of time that completely disrupts the aesthetic while it's entire purpose is to allow for the enhancement of a building. ironic?

10. the future of nike. my friend Ty works for nike and is an incredible videographer, designer, and digital artist. he recently released this video and it is awesome. i am so incredibly impressed- the graphics tell such a readable story- cheers to to, ty! ty's vimeo, ty's blog

after doing some extensive studying of Mike Perry and his style, i have decided to take a break from drawing on my computer and put ink on paper with my own hand. playing with line weights, colors, and patterns... oh this shall be fun!
